About the Institute
Founded by Mr. Guan Zhaoguo, Yizhou Papaya Research Institute has been rooted in the Yimeng Mountains for over 30 years. The institute focuses on the breeding, selection, and standardized cultivation of premium Chaenomeles (Chaenomeles speciosa and Chaenomeles sinensis) varieties. Located in Hedong District, Linyi City, Shandong Province, the institute is situated in the core traditional breeding area of Yizhou Papaya. Leveraging the unique ecological environment of the Yimeng region, the team has successfully bred nationally and provincially certified varieties such as "Qiansuiguo" and "Lvyu".
Founder Story
Mr. Guan Zhaoguo grew up in Linyi, the famous home of Chinese papaya. Combining decades of field experience with modern scientific breeding techniques, he dedicated his life to selecting elite papaya cultivars. Through systematic evaluation of hundreds of local landraces and wild germplasm resources, Mr. Guan introduced high-yield, large-fruited medicinal lines as well as vibrant ornamental floral series, filling key gaps in China's ornamental papaya sector.
